Case Study

Pickitpackit.co.uk helps Blue Chip Multi-Channel Retailer to reduce costs and prevent fraud.

Year on year the team at pickitpackit.co.uk accumulate literally hundreds of despatch note samples from various places where we have shopped at online. As it’s our target to improve despatch stationery where possible we found ourselves contacting one of the UK’s largest multi-channel retailers.

Armed with examples of how we have assisted many other multi-channel retailers, we visited the client on a mission to improve their form functionality as well as to help them reduce their overall spend on this product.

It wasn’t long before we unearthed a significant cost saving option for them!

By adjusting the clients label size by just a few millimetres it was possible to produce their form using an alternative manufacturing method.

Working in partnership with our client and their fulfilment company the pickitpackit.co.uk team adjusted the artwork to fit the new label size and produced a live proof to test alignment.

The test was successful and it has since offered our client a significant cost saving, but our work did not stop there!

During our original consultation, concerns were raised by our client regarding a fraud issue where online customers could return illegitimate purchases direct to the retail store for credit by using a fraudulent colour photocopied version of the despatch note.

Our client then challenged pickitpackit.co.uk to design a suitable despatch note that would prevent a potential fraudster from colour photocopying the document and bringing it in-store for a credit return, portraying it to be the genuine form.

To assist them in overcoming this problem, we introduced a security feature not previously found on a despatch note – Thermographic Ink with a Guilloche.

A Guilloche is usually used on banknotes, securities and passports world-wide for added security against counterfeiting. The guilloche is printed with a Thermographic Ink which disappears when warmed with the touch of a finger.’

This makes the despatch note easily validated as being an original document and a valid purchase made online, by the in-store staff member when dealing with the returned item.

Andy Lloyd – Pickitpackit.co.uk – stated: ‘This is just one example of many where pickitpackit.co.uk has been asked by a multi-channel retailer to assist them in overcoming problems with their despatch operations and their documentation systems.

We offer a no-charge review of a client’s despatch operation, and present alternative products and solutions that can help to avoid counterfeiting, while at the same time offer potential cost-savings by streamlining the despatch.

We can also advise with other potential revenue streams that can be implemented by online retailers – for example offering a Gift-Wrapping service that can add value and generate more profit per order, our patent-pending Integrated Gift Tag product is the perfect partner for such a service.

Andy continued: ‘pickitpackit.co.uk is much more than simply another print company that just sells product. We want to be the best solution provider to on-line retailers for all their document despatch requirements.'
